WORKING FOR BRANDON TRUST
ALLAN POOK
A FRIENDLY COMPANY
| |
Hi, I am Allan Pook and I am a Senior Project Worker in the supported employment team.
I have been working for the Brandon Trust for 6 years. The role that I have in the organisation is developing supported employment, enabling people with learning disabilities to find real jobs. I feel the organisation has been really keen to assist me to support more people to find part time paid work. This is one of the overall aims of Brandon Trust, creating employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
The staff at Olympus House where I work are very friendly and are always interested to find out about the role I am doing. And of course, some people I have supported in the past now work at Olympus House.
I regularly speak to the other support departments in the organisation and find them to be very efficient. People want to get things right.
The training that is provided by Brandon Trust is very good; the organisation is always asking you to develop your skills. Managers support you if you would like to do some training. I sometimes need to go ‘outside’ of Brandon Trust to get the training I require; going on courses provided by other organisations. This is due to the speciality of the role that I am doing.
I believe there are many opportunities for personal development and promotion, far more than in most other organisations it seems. I feel that this is a friendly company that is dedicated to supporting people with learning difficulties to get better lives. It is forward thinking.
The organisation is very much about providing person-centred services and this has not stopped even though the organisation seems to be growing bigger and bigger. The larger the organisation the more important it is to stay focused on individual people. This is what we do.
I enjoy working for the company as it is determined to grow and improve the services that we are providing. Within my own job I feel that the organisation is making a great effort to create more employment for the people we are supporting. This makes me feel more committed to a long term future with Brandon Trust.
