About us

Brandon Trust was formed in 1994 by the merger of the Buttress Trust and the South Avon Housing Association.

To see a potted history of Brandon Trust, take a look at our historical infographic showing how far we have come over the past 20 years.

20th Anniversary Infographic

Today, Brandon Trust is a UK charity working across Southern England including London, supporting approximately 1,300 children and adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Latest figures suggest there are 1.5 million people* with learning disabilities living in the UK. Despite significant developments in the last 20 years, people with learning disabilities are still restricted by many aspects of the modern world; less than 7% of them for example have a job**.

At Brandon Trust we’re striving to change this. We inspire the people we support to set themselves free so they can reach for their dreams and be all they can be.

We have a wealth of experience in working with people with complex needs whose behaviour can sometimes challenge the environment in which they live, or with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

In our 20th year, we are looking forward to how, in partnership with the people we support, we can shape the future for people with learning disabilities. We’re striving to build a connected society by:

  1. Ensuring people we support are connected in their community and wider society.

  2. Encouraging and equipping more people we support to live in their own homes.

  3. Ensuring that everyone with a learning disability has the right and the capacity to have their voice heard.
