'THE IDEA BEHIND DOMICILIARY CARE IS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD. INSTEAD OF PEOPLE HAVING TO GO AND LIVE IN SOME 'SPECIALIST' HOUSING THEY ARE SUPPORTED TO CONTINUE LIVING IN THEIR OWN HOME. NO WONDER IT IS POPULAR.'

KAREN MELLALIEU

DOMICILIARY CARE

The Domiciliary Care service supports people who are assessed as needing help with their personal care to continue to live in their own home. Trained staff are available to support people with:

Bathing

It is important to us that we ensure the dignity and privacy of the people we support.

Taking prescribed medication

Staff ensure that all safe procedures are followed and encourage people to take the lead regarding their medication where possible.

Cooking and eating meals

Support staff will assist with cooking or cook meals of the person's choice. They will also encourage and advise on healthy diet and support the person to develop their meal planning and cooking skills wherever possible. Staff will also support people to eat meals if necessary, seeking advice on particular requirements.

Everyone who receives a Domiciliary Care Service will meet with staff to develop a support plan to ensure that they understand and are comfortable with the service they receive.
