STRAWBERRY LINE CAFÉ CATERING PROJECT
The Strawberry Line Café Catering Project is based at the Village Hall in Yatton, with plans to move into a café in the future. There are seven students a day working towards NPTC Level 3 Qualifications in Catering and Retail. The students have been learning catering skills since September 2006 and make buffets, cakes and drinks to a very high standard. All students successfully completed their food hygiene certificates this year, and have catered for a number of Yatton community events. |
Baytree School in Weston- Super –Mare offers its 16-19 year olds the opportunity to access our Education projects as part of their school timetable. This year Laura is attending the Yatton café Project two days a week. Darren and Aaron attend the Hutton Moor allotments two days a week, and Marc attends for three days doing a construction course as well as the horticulture course.
The school says….."The allotments are a great opportunity to for our students which complement our individual curriculum for the post 16 pupils"
Westhaven School are doing NPTC Retail Hospitality and Catering at the Yatton Café Project on a Wednesday afternoon. Last year they did their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. This group of six were not able to go with their peers to Weston College, and so we provide them with an important opportunity to learn outside of a classroom environment.
The school says…."Our pupils have enjoyed Natasha’s involvement at the School and have benefited from a different perspective"

- "The course is excellent! I would like to work in a café and get paid"

A Parent’s perspective
"The transistion from attending Baytree School 5 days a week to attending the project for two of those days was a big challenge for Laura. Over the past year, her confidence has grown, and she is able to mix now with people of varying ages. I feel this has prepared her well for her residential college place next year”
Quote from Education Senior Project Worker and everybody the project has catered for…
"The coffee cake is fantastic!"
