TYNTESFIELD HOUSE PROJECT
Tyntesfield is a National Trust Property which has recently been saved for the nation by public generosity.
There are various community conservation projects taking place in the grounds of Tyntesfield. We are however the first group to deliver an Education course and have been given the task of restoring the Head Gardeners garden. The ten students involved are working towards a NPTC entry 2 Horticulture course. |
The aims of the project are:
- For students to learn about and recognise different types of plants and to carry out a range of horticulture tasks in a working environment
- For students to integrate and work along side people in the community
- For students to have the opportunity to contribute to the conservation of Tyntesfield for future generations.
As part of the project it is necessary for us to have a building for which the students can do their course work this will also be used by other community groups working at Tyntesfield. In view of the nature of Tyntesfield we are planning to build an eco hut/classroom that would blend in with the beautiful surroundings.
We have applied for funding for this project and we are also in partnership with the National Trust who work closely with the Princess Trust and we are hoping to do some fund raising work with them.
The students are very excited and feel very privileged to be involved in such a worthwhile project.
