'PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN RESIDENTIAL HOMES SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE WHERE THEY LIVE AS THEIR OWN HOME AND NOT SIMPLY AS ANOTHER INSTITUTION.'
INGRID VLAM
REGISTERED CARE
Getting the most out of life. That is what Registered Care is all about and involves providing 24-hour services in all our residential homes throughout the region. This is more than simply giving people somewhere safe to live, we deliver day-to-day support designed to enable people with learning difficulties to enjoy life and realise their potential. We give people the practical support they need to live life to the full.
Registered Care Homes are homes first and services second. Like anyone else's home they are not public places, but if you were to open the door to one of our homes you may find some of the following going on:
- A group of people choosing where they go on holiday, what new furniture to buy or deciding who will be sitting on the interview panel for a new member of staff.
- A person with visual impairment supported to choose clothes by feeling the texture of the cloth.
- A resident with a hearing impairment communicating with staff who have learnt British Sign Language.
- People gardening, relaxing in the lounge, listening to music, painting or involved in another hobby.
- A woman having a professional manicure.
- Welcoming guests or a visit from a family member.
- A new resident being supported to settle in.
- Someone having a chat with a member of staff about moving out to a new place.
In Brandon Trust homes, we make sure that we provide support of the highest quality. From making sure that people’s rights are respected to providing good support to staff. In addition our standards meet and often exceed the National Care Standards. Person Centered Planning means that people are treated as individuals and supported to express their choices. People who live in homes have the support they need from our staff and from health professionals to remain healthy and maintain their independence.
