Brandon Trust now has five of its services accredited through the National Autistic Society. Paul Sullivan from the Society’s Accreditation Team came to Bristol on 12th July 2011 to present the awards to the Team Members.
Brandon Trust began accrediting a number of its services through the National Autistic Society’s Autism Accreditation Scheme two years ago. We deliberately put forward a range of services to undertake this process in order to demonstrate Brandon Trust’s commitment to providing quality and informed support to people across the autistic spectrum.

The support services include Fired Up Ceramics who provide employment training, plus other teams who are involved in registered residential and supported living services in Bristol, North Somerset, Gloucestershire and Cornwall.
All the support teams have worked incredibly hard, along with those people they support to bring about a successful outcome to the accreditation process.
What’s clear is that undertaking the accreditation has meant great outcomes for some of the people we support. One individual with very complex support needs has recently moved into her own tenancy with a private landlord after clear development of her support was identified and achieved by her support workers. Others in Cornwall have taken a lead, developing sensory assessments and support initiatives.
In the coming months this special Autism page on the Brandon Trust website will be featuring specific stories highlighting particular aspects of our work. It will also be explaining our approach to Autism and why it is important. Check it out.
