We take people with learning disabilities seriously and that means enabling individuals to have the opportunity to do training in order to go out and get a job. Just one example is the NHS Health Trainer programme. Brandon Trust is part of the Cornwall Works employment initiative.

Nicky is a man with learning disabilities who for a long time has wanted the status of a permanent job; in order to be like his brother who has regular employment as well as to enable him to feel that he is contributing through a regular wage. Brandon Trust supported Nicky to gain the role of a Health Trainer for the NHS. This involves visiting GP surgeries and advising them on the kind of facilities and literature that people with learning disabilities require. He also delivers healthy living promotion sessions for other adults with learning disabilities. In April 2010, Nicky Jones' job became permanent one day a week employed by the NHS.
