People with learning disabilities do not always require support all day and all night. Many people welcome the opportunity to plan exactly when, where and how their support is required. At Brandon Trust we believe in enabling people to set individual goals for themselves and structure our support in a way which best meets their own specific needs.
Some individuals have personal goals involving "giving back" to their own community. Bespoke is an environmental volunteer service provided by adults with learning disabilities. It is coordinated by our Scotch Horn Day Services team in Nailsea. It enables individual people with learning disabilities to learn new skills for example; maintaining cycle paths, putting up bird boxes, hedge planting and garden maintenance. They use these skills to then complete jobs on behalf of local people and agencies. This kind of support directly links to individual needs. It has to be flexible and specific to the interests of the person concerned.
