    Vacancy ref 2010This property is a Victorian semi-detached house with large bay windows. It is located in the Headington area of Oxford, near The Nuffield Hospital.

    Most of the rooms are very spacious, but due to the age of the property there are narrow hallways and stairways. There is a disabled parking bay outside the property which can be used for a mobility car. There is a ramp to the front door.

    There is one bedroom downstairs and three upstairs (one of which is a staff sleep in room). The vacant room is on the first floor. It is a good sized double room at the front of the property. Some furniture is already in the room, which can be used if required.

    On the first floor there is a bathroom with a bath, and there is another bathroom on the ground floor which is a wet room with shower.

    There is an open plan kitchen/dining area to the rear of the property, which leads into the lounge. There are patio doors that look out onto a large garden and patio area.

    There are currently two gentlemen living here. They are between 25–31 years of age. Both gentlemen enjoy a calm, quiet environment, but they do enjoy banter with staff. They are quite independent and only require staff support by way of prompts and encouragement. Both require full support when accessing the community.

    One of the gentlemen loves birds and has two that live in a cage in the lounge. Both gentlemen enjoy, playing board games, going bowling, music sessions, going out for meals, attending day services, and being involved in daily living tasks at home.

    The person who fills the vacancy would ideally:

    • be a similar age
    • be able to communicate verbally and like to be involved in banter and fun
    • be happy with the birds at the property
    • have similar interests (but not essential)
    • have similar care and support needs

    The vacant bedroom is at the front and is the first room as you enter the bungalow. It is a reasonable size, and can be furnished to suit.

    There is a wet room with a bath, walk in shower with wall mounted folding chair, toilet and wash basin.

    The property has a spacious lounge/diner with patio doors opening out on to the garden and patio area with summer house. There are several outside seating areas.

    There is a shared lease vehicle which can accommodate wheelchair users. Anyone moving in can access the vehicle if they wish to contribute financially, or there is space for a mobility vehicle.

    Currently, three ladies and one gentleman live at the property. Their ages range from mid 60s to mid 80s.

    The people living here have differing abilities, support needs, and personalities. Two of the ladies tend to enjoy time in their rooms whilst one of the ladies is quite sociable. The gentleman is also sociable and loves to watch his TV. Everyone enjoys craft sessions and parties.

    Two pet rabbits, belonging to the gentleman, also reside here.

    The person who fills the vacancy will ideally be a similar age, sociable, someone who understands privacy and personal boundaries, who is not too loud, and does not have behaviours that can challenge.
