Financial benefits

Pay - our Choices contract is offered to all new frontline staff and offers competitive pay rates that recognise qualifications and experience. We also provide payments for sleep-ins. There's the opportunity to work additional hours in many operational roles.

Pensions - we provide employees with the opportunity to access a contributory GPP pension scheme or the NEST auto-enrolment pension scheme. 

Life assurance - we provide free life assurance cover of twice your annual salary to all staff (unless you're a member of the NHS or local government pension schemes, which have their own cover).

If you successfully 'recommend a friend' to join us, you'll receive a recruitment referral scheme payment.

Discounts - we offer a discount scheme for all staff, this provides special rates on a wide range of products and services - including discounted gym membership. Staff also have the opportunity to join 'COSTCO', a nationwide cash and carry discount store, for just a small fee.

Wellbeing and work-life balance

Holidays - we offer paid holidays of at least 28 days per year including bank holidays. Employees on the Choices contract have the option of 'buying' additional annual leave under the Choices Flexible Benefits Scheme.

Flexible working - our frontline roles involve working flexible shifts. We understand different people have different lifestyles and commitments and we'll be as responsive as we can to each person's circumstances.

As well as offering full-time, part-time, and casual contracts, some roles are also available on weekend-only contractsnights-only contracts - perfect for people working around family responsibilities, or 'out of term-time' contracts - perfect for students looking for holiday jobs.

Everyone has personal commitments outside of work and we'll look to help you with any difficulties you may have, for example, your manager may be able to rearrange shifts or grant 'extraordinary leave'.

Wellbeing helplines - all staff have direct access to round-the-clock support from both our dedicated counselling and legal helpline and our GP and prescription service.

Time to Change logoMental health support - as a Time To Change (TTC) employer we have signed a pledge to a national campaign to demonstrate our commitment to change how we think and act about mental health in the workplace. As part of this commitment we offer employees wellbeing support through our own mental health first aiders, Time to Change champions, employee support resilience coaching service, employee assistance line and online wellbeing portal.

Health cash plan - we provide discounted membership of the BHSF health cash plan, for staff and their families, this provides funding for medical expenses including dental/optical bills, and personal injury insurance.

Sick pay insurance - we also provide access to Pay4Sure sick pay insurance.

Occupational health support - if health issues affect you at work, we offer medical advice and support through our Occupational Health Service

Training and development

When you first join us, you'll have an extensive induction followed by structured training and support to ensure that you feel confident in your role. You'll have regular one-to-ones with your manager to discuss your career aspirations, and we’ll work with you to identify learning needs and develop your Individual Learning Plan.

You'll have access to our in-house training programme and also a range of external initiatives. You’ll also be encouraged to take up a wide range of development opportunities and expand your experience and knowledge, such as our Experienced Practitioner scheme. All staff have access to our qualified in-house coaches.

We’ll do what we can to support you in studying for diplomas, professional qualifications, and certificates relevant to your role in order to help your continued learning.
