Our young campers reach new heights!

August saw two groups of young people we support getting stuck into a week of fun and adventure at our ever-popular summer camps.  This year's campers not only reached new heights as they scaled climbing walls, they also cooked up a storm in the woods and ramped up the gears on quad bikes! They had the time of their lives at the camps in Bristol and Wiltshire – as you'll see in the video below.

Thanks to our supporters’ generous donations, the summer camps were able to give 30 young people the chance to experience a whole range of activities which included rowing, paddling, canoeing, painting ceramics, raft building and Bristol's ever-popular It’s a Knockout competition.

Sarah Thornell from the Wiltshire Camp explains: "It was an amazing experience one that I personally will remember for a long time. Everyone tried the activities and challenged themselves with amazing results that they will take away and remember. It was a pleasure to be part of something so meaningful to those who attended."

For many of these young people aged 14-19 years, they were experiencing some of these activities for the first time, something which is not always easy. They took to the challenge and not only surprised the camp leaders but also themselves with how quickly they overcame their fears.

In addition to brand new experiences, the camps also give the children chance to build new and lasting friendships, and to meet up with old friends. We can't wait to see how they get on next year – as well as meet new faces!

One young person told us "I was really proud of my climbing and staff said they were proud of how I cared for other campers."
