The power of volunteering
Volunteers from Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) recently lent a helping hand to Brandon Trust in Herefordshire.
Eight members of their company spent a day at Brandon’s Eaton Barn horticultural project in Stoke Prior, near Leominster, making the grounds more accessible.
BBLP’s Locality Steward Philip Pankhurst said: "We assisted with clearing vegetation and carrying out general grounds maintenance activities such as pruning and moving six tonnes of timber. We had the use of some heavy-duty ride on mowers which proved invaluable on the day as we were able to clear large areas which haven’t been used for the past three years."
Brandon Trust Inclusion Coordinator Catherine Baker added: "It was a really nice day for everyone and the volunteers were a great help. They cleared an overgrown area and footpath at the horticultural project so we could have better access and more space."
Andy Williams, BBLP Contract Director, said the company supports the community through its volunteering programme which enables staff to spend two paid days a year helping local charities.
