All things snazzy

Lucy At The Gloucester Road Charity ShopHello wonderful people, my name is Lucy and I have recently joined 'Team Shop' as Gloucester Road charity shop Assistant Manager.

As a fresh set of senses on the Brandon Trust shop scene it’s been great to get stuck in and offer my skills in the process of maintaining the shop’s fabulous feel. So nearly three months down the line, here’s the low-down on shop #2...

If someone was to ask me what the best thing about the shop was right now, I would say the fact that we are contributing towards helping Brandon gain the recognition it deserves. So many people are intrigued to find out what the charity does; the fact that we sell a lovely selection of handmade pieces made in some of Brandon’s social enterprises is a great starting point!

As you can imagine a steady stream of donations is fundamental in the grand scheme of success, but alongside this there are many more components that are equally vital in powering the shop motor. Firstly, keeping the rails 'evergreen' with all things snazzy – and the bare necessities too. We couldn’t do this without help from our amazing volunteers, who are often the friendly face on the shop floor whilst we’re head first in a bag of donations. Not to mention our customers, who as well as contributing towards a great cause, are forever showering us with compliments on the shop floor – confidence is key! Finally, the fact that we really love what we do is the glue that holds all of the above together. So much so, we organised a late opening yesterday for the people of Gloucester Road to come and discover the shop after hours! Live music, nibbles, specially selected vintage stock and discount in exchange for donations.

Next time you’re in the area please pop in, say hello and of course have a nosey around our magnificent shop.
