I support Adam, a young man who lives in Honiton, Devon. Adam has high support needs as he has Down’s Syndrome, other learning disabilities, and is unable to communicate verbally. He is however, very able to let us know what he wants and when.
The annual Steve Bennett Memorial Golf Tournament, in aid of Brandon Trust’s Dream Fund, took place on Friday, 2 October, raising nearly £2,000. Steve is my father and once again, my brother Adam and I, were absolutely delighted to make the trip down from the north west to take part in such a special day.
Looking back, when I first moved out from under my parents' wing, I was always asking them if it would be okay to do this and to do that. This continued for some time, until I gave birth to my inner adult.
I live in Dursley and I'm supported by Brandon Trust. I recently chaired the Driving Up Quality day in Gloucestershire with Kim and Ingrid, who both work for Brandon. Driving Up Quality is an initiative with a simple aim; to improve the quality of support delivered to people like me.
