An exciting future looms
My name's Gaby and I'm a Social Enterprise Assistant with Brandon Trust.
I’ve recently been involved in organising ‘consultations’ for people we support attending Herefordshire day opportunities. Consultations was an event that gave both families and people we support the opportunity to meet key people from Brandon and discuss their service. As Brandon only began working in Herefordshire in September 2014, consultations are an important first step to building good partnerships across the county.
During the event we got to talk about all the cool things the varied projects are doing in the area and meet some of people involved. Autumn Circle, a craft group based in The Ryefield Centre, Ross-on-Wye, provided some handcrafted games. The Willow café and St Owen’s Catering, both based in Hereford, made delicious food for everyone to sample, and Leominster’s Tip Top Up-cycling were also there. Tip Top is a project designed to bring new life to old and unloved furniture. The picture shows a couple of Tip Top’s latest revamped products.
We also talked about what we can do in the future. Everyone had so many ideas that it'll be difficult to choose what we do first. One great idea that everyone liked was turning a shop in Leominster into a Brandon Trust outlet that could sell all of the great products people make here in Herefordshire.
I’m really grateful to everyone who gave their time and energy to the event; it was such a worthwhile day. We’re eagerly looking forward to an exciting future for Herefordshire day opportunities!
