It's got me bouncing!
Hello, my name is Charlotte Allison and I recently began my journey with Brandon Trust.
This year I decided it was time to go home every evening feeling like I'd made a positive impact on the world. That’s definitely a boost I knew would get me bouncing to work every morning! As soon as I heard what Brandon was about, I knew that I wanted to be a part of their incredibly inspiring ethos. What a privilege to be able to combine my passions of fashion and interacting with people all day long, whilst making that vital impact.
Bearing all of the above in mind, I could not possibly miss the chance to become assistant manager of the second Brandon Trust charity shop at 127 Gloucester Road. How exciting! I visited some of the enterprises when I began working for Brandon. I was lucky enough to witness the Christmas goods being made by people Brandon support, and I was blown away by the care and devotion that was put into making each item. Every individual had the freedom to let their creativity flourish, and seeing the beaming faces filled me with pure happiness. When customers pick up the handmade products they fall in love with them instantly, just like I did the first time I saw them. The handmade crafts spark a wonderful conversation about what Brandon is all about, and I'm overjoyed to be able to give them an insight.
So far, I've been training alongside Heidi Wort (Manager of the Gloucester Road shop), under the superb supervision of Louise Minchin and Gemma Pearce (who manage the Cotham Hill shop). I've learnt an endless amount about running a successful charity shop. The customers' encouraging remarks about what Brandon accomplishes are non-stop. They often comment about how they adore the industrial décor and warm-hearted atmosphere. Some customers have walked in and asked: "Is this actually a charity shop?".
The time is fast approaching for Heidi and me to fly the Cotham Hill shop nest and begin our new venture on the bustling Gloucester Road. I'm looking forward to bouncing up to Gloucester Road to help extend the amazing work of Brandon Trust. I hope to make a difference to many more lives throughout my career.
