Our first charity shop is about to open

Brandon Trust Charity Shop Cotham HillMy name is Lou Minchin and I'm incredibly proud to be managing Brandon Trust’s first ever charity shop! It’s so exciting and I can't wait to open our doors to the local community and start spreading the word about all the amazing work that Brandon does in and around Bristol and across the South of England.

I’ve managed charity shops for over ten years. Before joining Brandon I ran another little charity shop in Bristol, and worked hard to raise both money and awareness for the cause; it was a popular charity shop and I'm hoping to create the same success and atmosphere for Brandon.

I enjoy fundraising and I've been involved in many local events, fairs and festivals. I like meeting new people and always aim to give the best customer service possible.

I've lived in Bristol all my life, the city means a lot to me and locally-based charity work is something that I feel passionate about and lucky to be involved in. I intend to contribute to Brandon's work as much as I can and encourage others to do the same.

My assistant manager is Gemma Pearce and I'm very pleased to have her on my team. She has a lot of high street retail experience as well as having volunteered with another charity shop before joining Brandon. She also shares my passion for supporting local causes.

We'll need a team of volunteers to make our vision for the shop a reality but I'm confident that the two of us will form an exciting and solid foundation for the way any new Brandon shops will run in the future.

We're due to open on the 20th August and we’re based at the foot of Cotham Hill, where it meets Whiteladies Road; you can’t miss us. Cotham Hill is buzzing with charity shops but I believe ours is going to be that extra bit special, from it's very current and welcoming design, to the wide range of unique items we'll be selling alongside donated stock, including handmade ceramics and woodwork from Brandon's various enterprises, as well as organically grown plants, flowers and other produce from our very own Elm Tree Farm.

We hope to see many of you popping in and checking out our new shop, after all it’s for a good local cause!
