Kieran, the captain of Brandon Trust’s disability football team, Brandon FC, recently made a special visit to Wembley with Cornwall FA. Here, his support Rory reveals all from their big day in London

Our adventure began when Kieran and I were dropped off at Bodmin Parkway station, tickets in hand for London. The train hit 125mph –  a thrilling start! Four hours later, we arrived at London Paddington at 2:40 PM. From there, we hopped on the Underground to our hotel, just a few miles from Wembley Stadium. We won’t lie, we went to the wrong hotel (London is much bigger than Cornwall!)

Ready for kick-off

No time to waste—we unpacked quickly and got ready for the big event: England Men’s National Team vs. Latvia Men’s National Team in a World Cup Qualifier (kick-off 7:45 PM).
Kieran took his first-ever Uber to the stadium, and as we approached the Green Zone, there it was—Wembley Stadium!
We stopped in awe, soaking it all in. “We’ve made it!” Kieran said, but he quickly reminded me that this is just the beginning—there’s much more to achieve.

Arriving at the home of England football

We explored the England shop, where Kieran bought a new away shirt and a scarf for the game. Entering through the Bobby Moore Gate was a bit nerve-wracking as we passed through security, but once our tickets were scanned, we were in!
Kieran settled his nerves with a pre-match pint at the Budweiser Lounge, and we grabbed some chicken and chips before finding our seats.
Walking through the doors, we were hit by the sheer size of Wembley – it was incredible. Photos were taken, match programs were read, and we watched the warm-ups, amazed by the players’ skill and precision.

Time for kick-off

Then it began. Kieran sang his heart out during the national anthem – a proud moment for both of us. The chants of “Come on, England!” filled the air as the game kicked off.
In the first half, we were treated to an amazing free kick from Reece James, scored right in front of us! 1-0 to England at halftime.
The second half was just as thrilling, with two more goals – including one from Harry Kane, much to Kieran’s delight. The game ended with a 3-0 victory for England, and we made our way back to transport. Exhausted but elated, we opted for a taxi back to the hotel, where we had a great night’s sleep.

Heading home

The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast before starting our journey home, reflecting on an unforgettable experience.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Cornwall FA, to everyone at Brandon Trust, and everyone who has been part of our journey toward inclusion.
It’s incredible to see the recognition that disability football is receiving. But we’re not stopping here – if anything, we’re going full throttle ahead!
