Support worker Jason, who has a professional interest in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), recently joined Brandon from another social care provider. Here, Jason describes his experience of developing his PBS skills with his new team at Brandon.

Tell us more about the course

We had Jordan, one of Brandon’s trainers, delivering the course, and his knowledge and experience really amplified what I was able to take away.

Even as someone who is experience with behaviours, I found myself completely engaged for the duration of the learning. All of my questions were answered, all my opinions were respected. I even managed to learn a few new techniques which I admittedly didn’t know before!

The way the core values of Brandon were displayed throughout the course was really effective too and made the training even more impactful.

What would you say to someone who's considering working for Brandon?

I would recommend working with Brandon to anyone who has a sincere passion for helping people. Brandon really champions and embodies every aspect of quality care and support work, and they have clearly demonstrated that to me already in my short time here.

Since I began working with Brandon, I have been placed in a beautiful, supported living setting, with some wonderful individuals to support.

The team have been very welcoming of me and are such a great group of people. My team are very diverse and come from many different walks of life, each person having their own unique experiences and insight. They have all been instrumental in getting me up to speed with the amazing people we support.

I have received my PBS management training, my medication administration training, and attended my induction, which was fantastic and gave me a real insight into what Brandon values as a charity and the different things they have achieved since their inception.

The one thing that stood out to me was just how many people have been with Brandon since it was formed in 1994! I have also already had my first supervision meeting (a check-in with a manager to see how things are going and a chance to provide any feedback or raise any concerns), and as a result of that, I have been able to access additional training and further development opportunities.

It's clear that Brandon values their employees and has a vested interest in maintaining a high standard in the people they employ, which is amazing to see.

Whether you have experience in support or are completely new to it, Brandon will make sure you are ready to begin making a difference to people's lives.

I am so thrilled that I have the opportunity to work for such a great employer and service provider.
