Executive Leadership Team

Our Executive Leadership Team is a small group of passionate, expert individuals. Based at our head office in Bristol, they work together across all aspects of the organisation.

The management of Brandon's overall operations is the responsibility of our Chief Executive, Sue Porto, who reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

  • Sue Porto Chief Executive

    Sue joined Brandon in July 2018. She brings an outstanding track record of leadership in the charity and public sectors, having held Chief Executive roles at St John’s Foundation in Bath and national children’s literacy charity Beanstalk. Prior to that, she held senior positions at The Prince’s Trust and Prison Service.

    Our work aligns closely with Sue’s desire to help individuals achieve all that they wish for in life. She is committed to enabling an inclusive, purpose-driven culture that underpins every aspect of our work, ensuring the people we support are able to live the lives they choose.

  • Tanya Abbott Chief Operating and Compliance Officer

    Tanya joined Brandon 25 years ago as a support worker and her subsequent progress through the organisation allows her to bring a hugely valuable depth of understanding and experience to her current role. She has held senior roles in both quality and operational delivery, including Director of Operations. Her work to enable all staff to be leaders in quality has played a critical role in the achievement of our current, above average CQC ratings.

    Tanya is a passionate champion of the people we support, ensuring that their voices, needs and wishes are at the heart of all we do.

  • Ben McGinn

    Ben McGinn Chief Financial and Commercial Officer

    Ben joined Brandon in July 2019. He brings with him a wealth of experience as a Finance Director in a number of private equity-backed companies. He has considerable experience in the field of support for people with learning disabilities. In a past role he was the Finance Director of the Robinia Group PLC, a large private sector learning disability care provider.

    Ben has a real passion for enabling people to live the life they choose, in the manner they wish to live it, and he’s delighted to have the opportunity to help make this happen.

  • Tracy Date Acting Director of Operations, Business & Enterprise

    Tracy joined Brandon 28 years ago as part of an NHS transferred workforce. Since then, she has worked in roles in residential care, supported living, day services and enterprises. Her wide-ranging experience has been hugely valuable in developing the depth of understanding and expertise needed in her current role.

    Through her work in senior operations and business roles, she has led the innovation of new services models and growth of new business that have played a vital role in Brandon’s development.

    Tracy's commitment to a person-centred approach is at the heart of her drive to ensure that we always work alongside people we support and families to co-design support solutions that are right for individuals.

  • Tim Bird Chief Digital Information Officer

    Tim joined Brandon in March 2022. Tim’s many years as a technology and business leader combined with passion for collaboration and innovation, make him an excellent fit for his role here at Brandon.

    Tim has gained significant experience of using technology and data to improve the lives of customers, beneficiaries, and colleagues through senior roles in a number of large organisations, including Fat Face and Help for Heroes.

    Tim firmly believes that everyone deserves to be valued, to be treated with respect, and to be given the opportunities to live the best quality of life that is possible for them. He is hugely motivated to make a valuable contribution to Brandon’s work through his role.
