Award-winning support from London team

Massive congratulations to one of our supported living teams in London, who have won a regional Great British Care Award!

This fantastic team, led by locality manager Bridget Moedu-Wemambu and team leader Empress Ohiku, were nominated by their Brandon colleagues for the Home Care Team Award. They were recognised for the incredible, person-centred support they’ve provided to an individual under unique and challenging circumstances.

Brandon’s area manager for London, Dawn Dacosta, was among the first to hear the fantastic news.

“Being shortlisted as finalists is already a great achievement, but to go up against other great support teams and win is truly something to be celebrated!

“The team supported an individual (who is usually quite independent), to rehabilitate at home for six weeks after being injured in an accident.

“The team ensured they had the right equipment and additional support in place, used updated guidelines and risk assessments to keep her safe, as well as keeping her engaged, involved, and doing activities indoors she enjoys.

“A huge well done to Bridget, Empress, and all the team.”

London support team at the awards eveningEmpress, Bridget, and support worker John Mambongo, attended the awards ceremony in London on Saturday 16 November, 2019, and celebrated in style!

For Empress, it was the perfect way to look back on what’s been a memorable few months.

“It was already very exciting for us to be nominated but winning was mind blowing! We knew we were running against different organisations that have earned the recognition of their colleagues to be nominated.

“I'm so proud of our team! Getting results from every piece of hard work to give people the best support and care every day, is very rewarding. Brandon's values and the quality of care we strive for, is something I really appreciate, and the people we support give us reason to keep coming to work.”

Well done to Empress, Bridget, and the team, who now progress to the national finals on 20 March, 2020. Good luck!
